Interior lighting projects range from single fixture swaps to full room rewiring for new switch locations, while exterior work has to account for Mendocino County's wet winters and the moisture that works its way into poorly sealed fixtures over time. Every exterior fixture and outlet gets a weatherproof, in-use rated box and GFCI protection as required by code, and we route exterior circuits with UF-rated cable suited for direct burial or wet locations rather than standard interior NM cable.
Security and motion-sensor lighting gets placed based on actual sightlines and entry points rather than just symmetry, and we wire it to a dedicated switch or smart control depending on what you want. For homes near wooded lots, we also consider defensible space and wildfire season when placing exterior fixtures and junction boxes, keeping them clear of dry brush and vegetation that collects near foundations.
Interior and exterior runs are kept on separate circuits where practical so a fault outside doesn't take down lighting inside.
